I have a couple of questions: does the diesel locomotive provide power for the passenger cars? Does it use the traction motor to reduce the load on the stram locomotive?
Fred,
Excellent Question, the diesel locomotive is used to pull the train back to the station in Owosso. The train is equipped with a generator car which provides power for the lights and heat in the coaches. The diesel is in neutral when 1225 is leading, and via versa on the way back. The diesel has also been used for extra traction on icy or slick rails.
